ASOBIEXPO HAWAII 2026 Event Report
On March 16, 2026, ASOBIEXPO HAWAII 2026 made its international debut at the Tom Moffatt Waikiki Shell, bringing the energy and creativity of Japanese pop culture to the heart of Waikiki.
As the first overseas edition of ASOBIEXPO, the event introduced Hawaii audiences to a unique entertainment experience that combined music, fashion, culture, and community in one unforgettable evening.
In the weeks leading up to the event, excitement spread across Oahu. ASOBIEXPO HAWAII banners lined Kalakaua Avenue, while the specially wrapped HiBus "ASOBIEXPRESS" traveled throughout Honolulu, building anticipation among residents and visitors alike.
On event day, Hawaii residents joined visitors from the U.S. mainland, fans from Japan and guests from around the world, creating a vibrant international gathering united by a shared love of Japanese pop culture.
As part of ASOBIEXPO's commitment to inspiring younger generations through cultural experiences, children ages 10 and under were invited to attend free of charge. Families filled the venue, contributing to the welcoming and energetic atmosphere that defined the event from start to finish.
The ASOBIEXPO Experience
Before the performances began, attendees explored a variety of attractions throughout the venue. The official merchandise area quickly became one of the most popular destinations, offering artist merchandise, penlights, and other items synonymous with Japanese live concert culture.
Exclusive Hawaii-themed merchandise featuring messages such as "ALOHA" and "MAHALO" gave fans the opportunity to take home a special memento from this historic event.
Sponsor booths added to the excitement with variety of giveaways, interactive activities, and opportunities for attendees to engage with event partners throughout the day.
Performance Highlights
The evening featured performances by three of Japan's most influential pop culture acts: Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, ATARASHII GAKKO!, and FRUITS ZIPPER. Together, they transformed the Waikiki Shell into a vibrant celebration of music, creativity, and cultural connection.
FRUITS ZIPPER
FRUITS ZIPPER opened the show with an energetic set that immediately won over the crowd . Fan favorites including "Watashi no Ichiban Kawaii Tokoro," "NEW KAWAII," and "Hachamecha Wacha Life!" inspired enthusiastic singalongs and fan chants throughout the venue.
The combination of devoted fans from Japan and first-time listeners experiencing the group live for the first time created an atmosphere of excitement and unity from the very first song.
ATARASHII GAKKO!
Next, ATARASHII GAKKO! Took the stage with their signature blend of powerful performance, bold creativity, and fearless stage presence.
Their dynamic interaction with the audience elevated the energy even further, drawing enthusiastic cheers from both local fans and visitors.
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
Closing the event was global Japanese pop icon Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.
Performing beloved hits such as "Invader Invader" and "Kimi ni 100 Percent," along with her latest release "Genjitsu Tohi," she brought her colorful and imaginative world to life on stage. Through music, dance and audience participation, she created a joyful finale that perfectly captured the spirit of the event.
